Perth Park Construction Update Oct-26

14 October 2026

Works to date have primarily involved ground improvement, including the installation of Controlled Modulus Columns (CMCs), which is now complete.

Piling works are nearing completion, with approximately 98% installed. We are currently tracking ahead of our previous schedule and are targeting completion within the next two weeks, subject to no unforeseen circumstances.

The next stage of construction will involve pouring the large concrete foundation slab for the buildings as well as ongoing earthworks. Surcharge material will be moved around site and targeted vegetation removal will prepare areas for the new road and track construction throughout the site. Due to site constraints, some temporary construction material stockpiling is required. These areas will be relocated as the track and road construction progresses.

Out of hours

Some upcoming construction activities will need to be undertaken outside the Project’s standard approved working hours (Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm). The extent and management of these works have been outlined in an updated Noise Management Plan which has been reviewed and approved (with conditions) by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation under regulation, 13(3)(c)(ii) of the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997.

Out of hours works will use the quietest reasonably available plant, positioned to minimise noise impacts on nearby residential and hospitality properties and switched off when not in use. Operational measures are in place to manage out-of-hours noise levels. It is our commitment to not exceed approved noise limits however, if the set level is exceeded, the activity will be investigated during the shift, including verification of plant condition, location and orientation, and modified or ceased where possible.

Concrete pours

From mid-October through to March 2027, the Project will undertake several significant concrete pours for the multi-use building, amphitheatre and associated seating.

To meet the required concrete specification, some pours need to commence in the early morning to allow sufficient time for placement, compaction and finishing before temperatures increase later in the day.

A number of these pours will therefore require works to commence from 5am. This will be limited to no more than three per week. Equipment on site prior to 7am will be limited to concrete trucks, the concrete pump and essential personnel required for concrete placement. Regular construction activities will commence from 7am.

A four-week lookahead of out of hours works will be published on the website and updated as confirmed at least 24-hours prior to the early start commencing. To review the information, please click here: Construction Activities | Perth Park.

Groundwater management

Deep excavation works have now commenced and require careful management of groundwater. To facilitate delivery of these works, groundwater pumps and water carts may need to operate overnight to maintain the required water levels.

The operation of groundwater pumps and water carts will occur overnight intermittently, as required by specific works, from October 2026 to July 2027. This will ensure sufficient capacity is maintained in the on-site storage tanks for treated water. Previous noise monitoring of these activities confirms that noise levels remained within the range of typical background conditions in the area and the movements should therefore not be disruptive.

Road and track foundation preparation

From mid-October to the end of November 2026, intermittent rolling to prepare the foundation layers for the future roads and track will occur to remove voids that may exist in the existing underlying earth layers. Residents and park visitors may feel mild vibrations at intervals when this work occurs.

Traffic management

To facilitate site access and removal of redundant signage, poles and park infrastructure, at times during October, intermittent lane closures and Stop-Go control will occur on Roger Mackay Drive and Camfield Drive. During Stop-Go control, traffic may be held for up to five minutes at a time. Road users should follow traffic controller directions and obey signs and signals in place.
