Project Update June 2026

24 June 2026

Following the announcement of the major construction contract for Perth Park in May, works are progressing across the site.

Activities have included the installation of Controlled Modulus Columns (CMCs) to strengthen the ground beneath the amphitheatre mound. CMC installation involves the use of a drilling rig with an auger that creates concrete columns in the ground.

Surcharging of the site has also begun. Surcharging involves placing and compacting temporary fill over the track alignment to apply additional weight, allowing the underlying ground to compress and stabilise over time. Once the required settlement has been achieved, the excess material will be removed and reused elsewhere across the site.

Upcoming works

From late June, works will include the installation of piles beneath the future multi-use building and amphitheatre. These are square precast concrete piles that are driven approximately 40-50m into the ground and act as foundations for the buildings.

Nearby residents, businesses and visitors may experience increased construction noise and some ground vibration during these activities.

Piling works will be undertaken during approved construction hours, from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday. Test piles will be installed first from Monday, 29 June for approximately 3 days. This will be followed by a pause in activities before the main piling program commences in mid-July. Piling works are expected to continue through to the end of November 2026.

All works will be undertaken in accordance with a suite of comprehensive management plans, including the Construction Noise and Vibration Management Plan, which guide construction activities. A range of environmental monitoring equipment, including noise, dust and vibration monitors, have been installed across the site.
