Project Update - Perth Park | Establishment of the site for future construction works

1 February 2026

The WA Government is delivering Perth Park, Perth’s premier entertainment and sporting precinct at Burswood Park. The precinct will be activated by a year-round calendar of community and major events, ranging from large-scale festivals to intimate local functions.

The Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct Alliance (PESPA) will commence site establishment works in early February 2026, in preparation for future construction activities. During the construction period, the park will be temporarily closed to the public. The map below highlights the pedestrian paths that will remain accessible throughout this stage of construction.

The pedestrian path through the Park will reopen for the AFL State of Origin event scheduled on Saturday, 14 February 2026 and then close again for the remainder of the construction period.

What’s happening?

Site establishment will take place in the area between Camfield Drive, Roger MacKay Drive and Crown and will include:

  • Fencing: Installation of temporary fencing around the work area. Fencing will be positioned to avoid vegetation and clearing, where possible.
  • Service identification: Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) surveys and potholing to identify underground services.
  • Environmental monitoring: Installation of air quality, noise and vibration monitoring equipment.
  • Piling pads: Importing limestone and creating a compacted surface to support piling rigs for ground improvement work
  • Site offices and access: Delivery and installation of temporary site offices, as well as access tracks for construction activity. Selective vegetation clearing will occur to support these activities. We are working closely with the Burswood Park Board to existing infrastructure where feasible. A full landscaping plan for Perth Park is being finalised which will see a significant number of existing trees retained.

What to expect

  • An increase in project personnel onsite from Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm
  • Construction vehicles accessing the site via Roger MacKay Drive.
  • Signage and traffic management in place as required to ensure public safety and minimise disruption.
  • Closure of the park area and the pedestrian path through the park. Pedestrians are advised to use existing paths along Camfield Drive, Victoria Park Drive and the Casino precinct. Please allow extra time to walk to the stadium if travelling from the south.
