The tree canopy in the Park will be more than doubled from what it was previously, with new trees positioned appropriately through the park, including for the urban forest. In addition, trees will be thoughtfully positioned along pedestrian pathways to improve comfort and shade.

More than 250 existing trees will be retained and approximately 600 new trees will be planted.

In addition, approximately 40 trees will be installed in moveable planters to provide flexibility within event spaces.

Shallow planted channels, known as swales, will be incorporated to assist with stormwater management, helping to capture, filter, and treat runoff naturally within the landscape. Planting selections have been chosen for their resilience, ability to support stormwater treatment, and capacity to respond to seasonal variations throughout the year.

The design also includes large flexible lawn areas for both recreation and community use and broader festival-style use.

Planting throughout the Park includes a greater proportion of shrubs and smaller trees to improve habitat and biodiversity while maintaining clear sightlines for pedestrians and enhancing safety.

A combination of native species and feature planting has been selected to support the environmental performance of the precinct.

Biodiversity planting species have been selected to support a broad range of fauna, including birds and mixes are designed to be resilient to local climatic conditions.
